Zamora to replace Rooney for Swiss qualifier
England manager Fabio Capello has called on Fulham forward Bobby Zamora to stand in for the suspended Wayne Rooney in a Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland.
Capello also named former captain Rio Ferdinand and John Terry in defence for the match at Wembley Stadium on June 4. They replace Michael Dawson and Andy Carroll, who are injured.
Manchester United centre Michael Carrick returns to the England side for the first time since the 2010 World Cup.
After four of eight qualification matches, Switzerland have only four points – Group G leaders England and Montenegro are both on ten. To keep their faint qualification hopes alive, the Swiss must beat England.
