Inside Syria – ORIGINAL

More than a year ago Syrians started to rise up against their government. From the onset their quest for freedom and more democracy was met with systematic repression. Meanwhile the country is on the brink of full scale civil war.

Today, the struggle inside Syria goes on while the international community is outraged by the violent response of the regime to the mostly peaceful protesters. The UN seems unable to find the common ground in order to mount enough pressure on Bashar Al-Asad’s regime. The german photojournalist Timo Vogt had the opportunity to enter Syria together with a group of rebels from Turkey. He has been inside the country twice over the past few months. His images have become a testimony of the ongoing conflict of which the massacre in Hula marks the peak for the time being. (All images Timo Vogt/Randbild)
