Swiss ice hockey team beat Slovakians

Swiss player, Aeschlimann, centre, is congratulated by his team mates after his first score in Friday's game

(Keystone)

Switzerland's ice hockey stars responded well to coach Ralph Krueger's call for improvements on Friday, beating the Slovakian national side 4-2 during a friendly match in Lausanne.

Lugano forward Jean-Jacques Aeschlimann and Zurich's Michelt Zeiter shared the goal glory, both scoring twice.

The win against the current world vice-champions was only Switzerland's fourth victory against Slovakia in 13 meetings under Krueger.

Krueger is using this weekend's two encounters with Slovakia as part of his preparations for the world championships, which get underway in Germany at the end of April.
