Ministerial support for Swiss squad
Sport Minister Samuel Schmid has received the Swiss football team less than three weeks ahead of the Euro 2008 championship.
He wished the players the best of luck for the tournament, which is being hosted by Switzerland and Austria, and handed them combat rations to boost their performance.
Schmid, who is also defence minister, said he was confident the Swiss would qualify for the quarterfinals.
The Swiss face the Czech Republic, Portugal and Turkey in their group matches.
The reception came as the Swiss team began the final preparations for the tournament, which kicks off in Basel on June 7, including two friendly matches against Slovakia and Liechtenstein.
