Refugee apprenticeship programme successful
The Federal Migration Office has said that a pilot project to integrate refugees by providing them with apprenticeship training has been successful.
The programme, which involved language acquisition, education and networking in the labour market, had benefitted more than 50 people since it began in 2006.
Participants worked at sites in the hotel and catering sectors, in the logistics industry, in construction and in sales.
The Migration Office said it was satisfied with the programme’s 50 per cent placement rate and said it confirmed the importance of languages, education and social skills in the job market.
The normal placement rate for refugees is between 20 and 25 per cent.
