Geneva’s Zschokke buys two Siemens’ firms
The Geneva construction company, Zschokke Holding, has bought two companies from Siemens Building Technologies. Zschokke says the acquisitions make it Switzerland's market leader in general contracting.
A statement from Zschokke on Friday said it had taken over Göhner Merkur Totalunternehmung and Göhner Merkur Immobilien Management in a move that would strengthen its position in contracting and in real estate.
It added that all 330 jobs in the two companies would be maintained.
Siemens Building Technologies has said it is to concentrate its activities on its core business.
The takeover, which is effective retroactively from April 1, is subject to approval from the regulatory authorities. No financial details of the transaction have been disclosed.
The statement said that Göhner Merkur Totalunternehmung was a leading company in the construction and maintenance of complex buildings. In general contracting, it had an annual turnover of SFr230 million ($130 million) and was ranked fourth in Switzerland with a market share of seven per cent.
Göhner Merkur Immobilien Management has a workforce of 240 and is active in the management and selling of real estate. Zshokke has said it is not buying any real estate under the deal.
