In other awards on Monday, best goal of the season went to FC Basel's Fabien Frei for a long-range effort against FC Aarau in December.

Trainer of the year was judged by his peers to be FC Zurich's Bernard Challandes, young player of the year went to Valentin Stocker at Basel, female player of the year was Ramona Bachmann, who plays in Sweden, and referee of the year was Massimo Busacca.

Busacca refereed the Uefa Champions League final in May in which Barcelona beat Manchester United 2-0 in Rome.
