Christus natus est nobis – Christmas In Switzerland
Early Christmas music sung by the Schola Cantorum of the Einsiedeln monastery in central Switzerland.
Einsiedeln derives its name from the hermitage of a ninth century monk, Meginrat, who for nearly 30 years settled at the spot where the abbey stands today. The monastery plain-chant choir, the Schola Cantorum, is led by Father Roman Bannwart, an eminent scholar of ancient choral music. He himself transcribed some of the centuries-old music presented in this recording.
