Franz Feierabend – New renditions by Willi’s Wyberkapelle, Hujässler, Trio Markus Flückiger, Marion Suter and Trio Fredy Reichmuth

swissinfo.ch

Instrumental. Franz Feierabend (1885-1964) was a folk music legend from Engelberg in Central Switzerland. This farming innkeeper by profession gained nationwide fame for his fabulous accordion wizardry. He left behind about fifty intricate originals which have all entered the local standard repertory. Moreover, Feierabend's well-established restaurant Wasserfall (Waterfall) still continues to be a hotspot both for gourmets and folk music aficionados. This recording presents renditions played by five current eminent ensembles. An additional, sparkling vintage bonus track with Feierabend's son Josef leading the family band rekindles a past era at its best.
