Intimate stranger
The Kunstmuseum Basel presents photographs by Karlheinz Weinberger (1921-2006).
The self-taught photographer devoted his free time to taking portrait pictures of friends and people in the street. In 1958 he launched his big project – working with a gang of teenagers over a long period of time. In the late 1940s he published his photographs in the internationally acclaimed gay magazine Der Kreis.
