Louis Spohr: Overture 'Das befreite Deutschland' WoO 64; Symphony no. 4 F major 'Die Weihe der Töne' op. 86; Symphony no. 5 C minor op. 102. The Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana grew out of the Orchestra della Radiotelevisione della Svizzera Italiana, which was founded in Lugano in 1935. It has existed in its current form since 1991. Stravinsky, Hindemith, Berio, Honegger and Richard Strauss all worked with the orchestra, as did the conductors Ansermet, Stokowski, Ormandy, Celibidache, Scherchen, Sawallisch and Chailly.
