Swiss jazz drummer awarded Victoire prize
The Swiss jazz drummer, Daniel Humair, has won the prestigious Victoire prize for his latest album "Hum 99". The presentation of the 7th Victoire awards for classical music and jazz were made at a ceremony in the French city of Lyon.
The Swiss jazz drummer, Daniel Humair, has won the prestigious Victoire prize for his latest album “Hum 99”. The presentation of the 7th Victoire awards for classical music and jazz were made at a ceremony in the French city of Lyon.
Humair, originally from Geneva, now lives in Paris, where he collaborated with two French musicians, the pianist, François René Hurtreger, and the double bass player, Pierre Michelot, to produce “Hum 99”.
He has been showered with awards and prizes throughout his career, and is considered to be one of Europe’s most innovative jazz drummers. In 1997 Humair was given a special award by the Jazz Academy of France for his life’s work.
Humair has also made a name for himself as a painter of abstract art.
