Swiss pop star woos Sarajevo audiences

The Swiss pop star, DJ Bobo, has entertained some 15,000 people at a special concert in Sarajevo. The show, called "Mystasia", was intended to bring together Bosnians divided by cultural and ethnic differences.

The Swiss pop star, DJ Bobo, has entertained some 15,000 people at a special concert in Sarajevo. The show, called “Mystasia”, was intended to bring together Bosnians divided by cultural and ethnic differences.

The three-hour concert, in Sarajevo’s new Olympic Stadium, was part of “Open Hearts Sarajevo”, a project set up to improve understanding between different ethnic groups.

Along with thousands of Bosnians, it was watched by Swiss and German peacekeepers, as well as the governor of Sarajevo, Mustafa Mujezinovic.

The concert was the brainchild of Social Democrat parliamentarian, Verni Müller-Hemmi, and organised under the patronage of the Swiss foreign minister, Joseph Deiss.

It was DJ Bobo’s second concert in the Balkans. Last year, he entertained 150,000 people in the Albanian capital, Tirana, as part of the “Open Hearts” project.

“Open Hearts” started in 1998 as a successor to an earlier project called “Rock against Hate”.
