Swiss ski to more success in Kitzbühel

Swiss duo Beat Feuz and Silvan Zurbriggen have come second and third respectively in the combined event at the Austrian resort of Kitzbühel on Sunday.

Their success comes a day after countryman and veteran speed specialist Didier Cuche won the Kitzbühel downhill for a record fifth time, just two days after announcing his retirement at the end of the season.

Feuz was more than 4.5 seconds behind Ivica Kostelic, but it was enough – as last week in the Super-Combination in Wengen in Switzerland – for the number two spot. It gives him 80 important points in the World Cup, which is currently led by Kostelic, with Feuz in third. “It’ll be hard against Kostelic in this form,” said Feuz.

For Zurbriggen the third place was his first on the podium this season, but he has finished among the top three in Kitzbühel three times in a row now – although on the previous occasions he managed second place behind Kostelic.

No Swiss managed the qualify for the second run of the slalom event.
