Contemporary music ranging from improvisation to performances and new electronic music blend at the TAKTLOS-BERN 99 festival at the Dampfzentrale venue in the Swiss capital Berne next weekend.
“TAKTLOS BERN, which is staged for the 16th time, will be presenting contemporary sounds and images from innovative fringe areas in media art and music,” organisers say on their website, where visitors can also log on for a live Internet concert by Coldcut on Saturday.
The main emphasis of the two-day event will be on electronic music. The audience will see and hear a blend of sound and visual elements, installations, multimedia presentations and DJ samplings.
The opening night on Friday will feature sound artists Peter Bosch and Simone Simons from the Netherlands, who will stage “Krachtgever,” a performance that includes box-shaped elements and sound.
The Viennese multimedia group Granular Synthesis will project video samples onto five big screens and will accompany the visual experience with pumped-up music.
One of Saturday’s highlights are DJs Matt Black and Jonathan More – otherwise known as Coldcut — who made headlines with their productions for the Ninja Tune label.
Their performance will also be put online, on the home page of the TAKTLOS event, on Saturday.
