Tony Renold Quartet: Places

Modern Jazz. For nearly three decades Argovian Tony Renold has been a grooving painter behind his drum set. And with Places this unpretentious jazz eminence has released a wonderfully sublime autumnal album. It features his longtime working quartet on luminous band originals plus three standards refined by guest vocalist Silvan Jeger. Flugelhornist Michael Gassmann's lyrical excursions render Places an especially songful touch. As a whole, this music has a meditative flow which radiates the melancholy tinge of an autumn poem.
