Giacometti work sets two world records
A sculpture by the Swiss artist, Alberto Giacometti, has set two world records at a Christie's auction. His bronze work "Grande femme debout I" fetched the highest ever price for a sculpture and the highest ever paid for a Giacometti.

The nine-foot-tall sculpture was sold for $14,306,000.
The work of art, with its gaunt and elongated proportions, is typical of Giacometti's style.
The artist, born in 1901, created the piece after Chase Manhattan Bank commissioned three sculptures for a plaza in New York.
Art historians say Giacometti believed he could express "the totality of life" through images. He died in 1966.
