Swiss food giant Nestlé doubles Mexico investment to $2bn
According to the Mexican government, the Swiss food company Nestlé plans to double its investment in Mexico to $2 billion.
The investments are to be made during the current government’s six-year term, Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum announced on the social media platform X on Friday following a meeting with Nestlé CEO Philipp Navratil.
Nestlé had originally announced investments totalling $1 billion at the start of 2025. The Swiss group intends to use the additional funds to drive forward its expansion in Mexico.
Plans include a new distribution centre in Zumpango, north of the capital, Mexico City.
Nestlé also intends to strengthen local agriculture between 2028 and 2030. Plans include the provision of 70,000 coffee plants and support for 2,000 coffee farmers in the state of Veracruz.
