Researchers from Zurich win European grants

Ten young scientists from Zurich have been awarded grants worth a total of €15 million (SFr19.6 million) by the European Research Council.

The ERC Starting Grants are the most important European programme for innovative research.

The funds will go towards interdisciplinary projects launched by researchers at the Federal Institute of Technology and Zurich University, according to a joint statement.

They will all receive €1.5 million over the next five years for their projects in the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, physiology and food sciences.

“We are very proud of our young scientists. It is also a recognition for Zurich as a research centre,” said Daniel Wyler, associate dean at Zurich University.
