‘If you want to keep your job, adapt!’

He may not have been hired if the new law had been in place, as vacancies now have to be advertised locally before Swiss building companies can seek workers abroad. The law change follows a 2014 initiative demanding a limit on hiring EU workers. Construction was one of the sectors targeted as its nationwide unemployment rate exceeds 8%.
