Young Vietnamese puts her stamp on writing
A 12-year-old Vietnamese girl has received a first prize from the Universal Postal Union’s 2010 International letter writing competition.
Ho Thi Hieu Hien received the prize on Friday at the headquarters of the Universal Postal Union in Bern for the outstanding letter she wrote to a well-know Chinese film director, telling him why it was important to talk about Aids protection measures.
The 2010 theme coincided with the HIV-prevention campaign launched by the UPU last year.
The 12-year old came to Bern on a three-day visit to Switzerland, where she read her letter during the ceremony in front of the Vietnamese ambassadors to Switzerland in Bern and the United Nations in Geneva.
She has recently won a national film competition for students held by local authorities and the Japanese embassy in Vietnam.
