Shawne Fielding, the wife of the Swiss ambassador to Germany, Thomas Borer, has taken on an ambassador's role of her own with the United Nation's Children's fund, UNICEF.

According to her management agency, Fielding has agreed to represent the organisation at a number of functions and act as a hostess to help them raise funds.

The head of external operations at UNICEF, Dieter Pool, said the organisation was very pleased to be associated with Fielding.

The former Miss Texas is a high profile member of Berlin’s social scene.

She later apologised to the Swiss foreign minister, Joseph Deiss, for her part in the photo shoot at the new Swiss embassy in Berlin.
