Lewis Hamilton could lose Swiss driving licence

RoadCross has asked the Geneva justice authorities to revoke the driving licence of British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton for dangerous driving on Swiss roads.

The Swiss foundation for victims of road accidents condemns both Hamilton and his singer girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, who has recorded a song called “Baby can’t drive”, for their unruly driving.

According to RoadCross, the Pussycat Dolls singer told British tabloid newspaper the Sun that Swiss authorities would no doubt expel the couple from Switzerland if they knew how fast they had driven in the country.

RoadCross said that Lewis Hamilton had already caused an accident in March 2009, because of his “irresponsible way of driving”.

The Formula One driver hadn’t respected a stop road sign and had hit the car of a woman and her child; no one was injured.

The Zurich-based foundation stressed that people who are in the public eye should be conscious of their “role model” status and show exemplary behaviour on the roads as well as in their everyday lives.

RoadCross’s aim is to reinforce road security, to reduce the number of victims of road accidents and to support the victims and their families.
