Swiss photographer Didier Ruef has travelled the world documenting waste management practices.

In Switzerland, China, Kazakhstan, the United States, the Republic of Nauru and Iraq, Ruef aimed to reveal the nature of humanity by photographing society’s waste and the management of it, the consequences of which are often tragic. Waste is removed from sight, but what happens away from people’s prying eyes?
