Giant worm spotted on Lake Geneva

A 25-metre inflatable figure, representing the parasitic worm of schistosomiasis (bilharzia), floats on the lake in Geneva on April 18.

The worm was being used by the Global Schistosomiasis AllianceExternal link to raise global attention during the Neglected Tropical Diseases summitExternal link. Some 250 million people worldwide, many of them children, are infected with the water-borne parasitic disease.
