Minimal3: Mind Blowing
Free Funk. Minimal3 is a bold sax-bass-drum student trio from Berne, built around reedist Joe Grin. And on all their numbers, these young men act with guerilla-like spontaneity. Mostly, the band compositions sneak in with dry bass ostinati backed by playful drum figures, which give way to peppery sax lines. The often fiercely culminating solo passages display a trashy funkiness. Nevertheless, Mind Blowing features introverted pieces as well, which have the experimental touch of a sound installation.
