Federer wins fifth Halle title

Roger Federer has won the Gerry Weber Open final against Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber.

The Swiss world number one won Sunday’s match by 6-3, 6-4 in 73 minutes in Halle, Germany.

The pair last met in the Halle quarterfinal in 2005.

It is the fifth time Federer has captured the Gerry Weber Open title. He uses the tournament as a warm-up for Wimbledon and each time has followed with a consecutive win at the Grand Slam tournament.

Sunday’s final was Federer’s 26th win in a row at Halle and gave him his 55th title.

“I never lost my serve in this tournament, that had never happened to me,” Federer said. “That was very special.”
