‘The project of this set of pieces was to write one Tango in each of the church tones, as practised by the organ composers of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. All these Tangos make reference, either to some sacred organ repertoire, most of the Spanish tientos, or to anecdotes concerning ecclesiastical persons.’ Guy Bovet
