The morning after
The crowd gathered at a Starbucks in Bern at the crack of dawn on Wednesday morning was a mix of American expats, embassy workers and journalists still riding the post-election high despite a lack of sleep for most.
Once everyone got their complimentary – and very welcome – cup of joe, they mingled, shared election night experiences and generally reacted positively to the news of a second term for Obama.
Speaking with swissinfo.ch, US Ambassador to Switzerland Donald Beyer said he hoped President Obama might decide to visit Switzerland sometime during his second term and also stressed the Embassy’s continued goal of working out agreements on tax and bank secrecy issues between Switzerland and the US. Below, Obama and Romney can be seen mingling with the Bern crowd – though both seemed awfully stiff….
