Nasdaq 100 Climbs on AI Trade Revival After Rout: Markets Wrap

(Bloomberg) — A rally in giant chipmakers buoyed the stock market as dip buyers emerged on bets the artificial-intelligence investment boom will continue to support solid earnings.

Following a rout in one of the most-crowded bets, a gauge of chip giants climbed 2.9%. The Nasdaq 100 added 1.3%. CoreWeave Inc. jumped 4% as Goldman Sachs Group Inc. recommended buying the shares after a recent plunge. This week’s earnings from Meta Platforms Inc. will provide a fresh proving ground for confidence in the AI trade. Tesla Inc. is also due to report.

Bitcoin briefly topped $83,000. Oil fell from a five-month high after a blistering rally fueled by a flare-up in fighting across the Middle East. But the move wasn’t enough to bring much relief to the fixed-income market, with French bonds getting hit after a weekend of violent unrest.

Investors should prepare to add risk to their portfolios as a months-long pullback in parts of the equity market nears an end, according to Morgan Stanley’s Michael Wilson.

“We advise investors to be ready for either a very rapid reconciliation or a slower bleed into November because in our view, that will be the time to add risk rather than shun it,” Wilson wrote.
