The Swiss food group Nestlé is investing a total of CHF310 million ($380 million) in its nutrition and health business in Brazil by 2028. Part of this investment involves the construction of a new baby-food factory.

Around CHF94 million are being invested in the new plant in Ituiutaba, in the state of Minas Gerais, Nestlé announced on Thursday. Production is set to begin in the second quarter of 2028 and will supply both the Brazilian market and export markets. Around 100 new jobs are expected to be created.

In addition, Nestlé is investing in its existing plant for nutrition and health products in Araçatuba. There, the group manufactures, amongst other things, infant, medical and adult nutrition products. Furthermore, the supply chains for key ingredients are to be expanded. For instance, Nestlé aims to increase the production of whey – a key ingredient in infant formula – by 15% by 2029.
