Protestors call for end to Israeli attacks

Hundreds of people have demonstrated in Swiss cities against the Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip.

Around 600 people took to the streets of Zurich to protest against the Israeli bombardment which has left more than 380 Palestinians dead and at least 800 wounded since Saturday.

Green Party parliamentarian Geri Müller addressed the crowd, strongly condemning the offensive. Zurich police said the demonstration on Wednesday had been peaceful.

Smaller protests took place elsewhere. In Basel around 100 supporters came to an event held by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, where organisers called for “an end to the occupation”.

Up to 100 people gathered in La Chaux-de-Fonds where the Green parliamentarian Francine John Calame called for an end to military collaboration with Israel.
