FC Sion hangs on to second division
FC Sion has been given the green light to play the next season of Switzerland's second-division after convincing the National League it has enough money.
The club was given until Tuesday night to assure the league it could satisfy conditions required to play.
The need to prove themselves came two weeks after the club was relegated from Switzerland's top football division because of financial doubts.
On Tuesday, the league released a statement saying the Wallis-based club had been cleared to play after its Cameroonian president, Gilbert Kadji, presented the governing body with documents.
Had the club's financial situation been inadequate, the NFL would have relegated the club to the third division.
