Campaign proposes net protection for youngsters

Switzerland’s data protection commissioner has launched a campaign aimed at teaching young people how to protect their personal data on the internet.

Hanspeter Thür said on Friday in Bern that children and teenagers needed to be aware that posting a picture on a social network could for example have consequences when looking for a job later on.

The Netla campaign does not focus on the dangers of internet use, but wants to make youngsters think about how they use the web as well as sharing their experiences, good or bad.

A comic book and a website with two games will help children and teenagers reconsider their online behaviour. Parents will also be able to get advice and teaching materials are also available.
