Shootings leave two dead in Lausanne
Two people have been killed and two seriously injured in shootings in a porn film cinema in Lausanne.
The 25-year-old gunman is reported to have shot dead one man and wounded two others in the Moderne cinema near the railroad station late on Tuesday before turning the gun on himself.
Lausanne police said they received a call from a 41-year-old man who had been shot in the stomach. He phoned for help from a restaurant near the cinema.
When they rushed to the scene they found another injured man in front of the cinema. He had been shot in the arm.
Police said they found the two bodies inside the cinema together with the rifle, a 5.6 mm SIG “Sturmgewehr 90” made in Switzerland.
The assault rifle appears to be the same type used by the gunman who killed 14 people in the Zug cantonal parliament last year.
No further details of the incident have been released, and the motive for the attack remains unclear.
The killing came a day after a lone gunman killed three people and seriously injured a fourth during a shooting spree at his former school and workplace near the German city of Munich.
