New Miss Switzerland crowned

The new Miss Switzerland will have modelling contracts worth SFr100,000 Keystone

A 21-year-old bank employee from St Gallen has been elected Miss Switzerland 2009.

Linda Fäh was chosen for the title on Saturday night in a contest shown live on three national television channels.

Fäh regularly sings in village festivals and says that although she works in bank, she “has the soul of an artist”.

She admits to spending a long time getting ready in the morning and keeps fit by jogging and cycling.

She hoped to be elected so that her “lust for life and energy could encourage others to fulfill their dreams”.

During her year-long reign she will be the face of various clothing and cosmetic lines in contracts worth SFr100,000 ($97,300). Among the gifts she will be given is a SFr36,000 car.

Tabea Schulthess and Tamina Schneider, both from Zurich, were named the runners-up.

Fäh replaces Whitney Toyloy, who is set to return to her studies.
